A couple of hours where nobody checks their phone, nobody is picked last, and nobody has to pretend they enjoyed it.
Why padel
It works because nobody has played it
The problem with most team sport as team building is that two people are good at it and everybody else endures it. Padel does not have that problem yet.
No ringers
It is new to almost everyone, so the person who plays five-a-side on Thursdays has no particular advantage. Teams end up genuinely mixed.
You are always partnered
Doubles, with partners rotating through the session, so people end up on court with colleagues they would not otherwise spend two hours with.
The rallies actually last
The glass walls keep the ball alive long after it would be out in tennis. Long points, close games, and considerably more laughing than a go-karting track.
Nobody needs to be sporty
It is low impact and quick to pick up. People who would quietly decline a football afternoon tend to be fine with this.

Where
Two clubs, two very different rooms
Kidderminster is indoors, so nothing is ever called off for weather, and there is a pro shop, refreshments and free parking on site. Leeds is outdoors and floodlit, at a multi-sport venue with 5-a-side pitches alongside the courts.
